Galois has landed a four-year, $16.4M cost-plus-fixed-fee contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to execute a research project that covers the development of programming methods for data verification.

The agency seeks to create safe subsets of malicious electronic data formats and validate the credibility of electronic documents through the Safe Documents program, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

Additionally, the initiative will help address concerns on the usage of data verification processes and the complexity of untrustworthy data.

DARPA received 23 bids for the competitively procured contract and obligated $2.3M from fiscal year 2019 funds to Galois at the time of award.

Contract work is slated to run through May 2023 and will occur in Portland, Ore.
