General Dynamics’ information technology business has won a $30.8M contract to conduct bioeffects research for the U.S. Air Force. The company will seek to determine the bioeffects of energy systems with regard to transitioning military technologies, the Department of Defense said Friday.

Work will take place at Joint Base San Antonio in Texas through Nov. 28, 2025. USAF initially obligates $250K in research and development funds allotted for fiscal 2019. Air Force Research Laboratory sought the contract on a competitive basis and received three proposals.

The effort aims to protect USAF personnel from radiation hazards as the service branch maximizes the use of radio frequency high and powered microwaves.
