DoD Releases RFI on Operational Tech to Support Cyber Roadmap Dev't - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Department of Defense is looking for information on technologies ready for deployment over the next 25 years and beyond as part of the Pentagon’s efforts to develop a Cyber Science and Technology Roadmap.

The DoD said in a notice posted Friday on the beta SAM website that the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering is seeking input from industry, academic entities and Federally Funded Research and Development Centers to help inform the office’s creation of a cyber strategy for future defense needs.

According to the request for information, the DoD’s S&T Program is responsible for establishing a “DoD-wide, mission-focused roadmap” to serve as a blueprint for fielding cyber technical capabilities to warfighters.

The RFI states that cyber is a “key modernization priority area” under the National Defense Strategy and that the DoD's cyber strategy also seeks “increased investments” in technologies designed to improve the resilience of DoD networks.

Other objectives include expanding the capacity of the department’s cyber operations, supporting skills training of its cyber personnel, defending critical U.S. infrastructure from cyber attacks and expanding cyber partnerships between industry, interagency and international partners.

Responses to the RFI are due on Aug. 21.
