Altamira Technologies has been awarded a one-year, $8.5M U.S. Space Force contract to build a prototype technology for processing information from missile warning satellites.

McLean, Virginia-based Altamira said Monday it received one of the three prototype projects from the Space Enterprise Consortium to support the Space and Missile Systems Center's Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution Mission Data Processing Applications Provider program.

A proposal phase will come after the completion of FORGE MDPAP prototyping efforts, followed by a downselection process for the operational system.

The FORGE system is intended to function as ground infrastructure for the Next Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared satellite constellation and SMC implemented an agile program management methodology in the program, according to the center.

Altamira's project teammates are CACI International, Lockheed Martin, Spire Digital, Stratagem and Toyon.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to leverage our core capabilities and experience to further serve this important national space mission area," said Blaine Worthington, chief operating officer of Altamira.

He added that the company will draw on its government program support experience in the areas of data analytics, algorithm development, machine learning and sensor phenomenology.
