Charles River Analytics has won a five-year, $16.5 million contract to provide technology to the U.S. Navy for boosting personnel protective equipment’s defense against chemical and biological agents while minimizing the operational burden on wearers.

CRA was among the three proposers chosen to participate in the project as part of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency competition, with a total of seven bids received, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

The Pentagon will initially obligate $3.4 million on the award using research, development, test and evaluation funds for fiscal 2021.

Work under the cost-reimbursement contract runs through April 14, 2026, and will take place in Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Missouri, Texas, California, Australia, Netherlands and New Zealand.
