In addition, Heneghan has been a leading force in the advancement of ECS’ IT modernization capabilities.

Heneghan has received the most prestigious and favored award in all of government contracting (GovCon) for the first time in his career.

“ECS represents a rapidly evolving amalgam of multiple synergistic acquisitions, “ Garrettson said. “John Heneghan, a well rounded and seasoned leader, has been able to take the helm of ECS, continue its rapid growth, incrementally add six acquisitions and maintain the market leading position of ECS in multiple segments of GovCon. An impressive balancing act and near seamless integration.“ Garrettson continued.

Following the announcement that George Wilson, former president of ECS Federal and four-time Wash100 Award winner, was set to retire at the end of 2021, the company named John Heneghan as his successor as president. GovConWire announced on Jan. 4th that Heneghan had officially taken over in the role.

In the role, he’s responsible for the growth strategy for ECS Federal and its commercial customer base as the company’s suite of information technology (IT), enterprise, and mission solutions. Previously, Heneghan served ECS Federal as its chief operating officer for the last year as well as a tenure as the company’s senior vice president from Sept. 2017 until Jan. 2021.

Throughout his time with the company, Heneghan has overseen the acquisition of Enterprise Resource Performance, Inc. (ERPi) and Indrasoft, which has put the company into a great position to carry its momentum heading into 2022.

ECS Federal announced that the company had been named a prime awardee on a potential ten-year, multi-billion dollar contract on the recent General Services Administration’s (GSA) ASTRO contract back in Aug. 2021.

With a key eye on the importance of IT modernization heading into 2022, the contract includes the development, integration, operation, maintenance, and support of unmanned, manned, optionally manned systems, robotics, and platforms.

ECS has continued to expand its capabilities and expertise in autonomous aviation, artificial intelligence, machine learning and mission solutions to develop and deploy operational AI/ML algorithms across the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) domain.

“Our company has a long history of delivering cutting-edge, never-before developed AI/ML solutions to federal customers,” said John Heneghan, chief operating officer of ECS. “We look forward to working with GSA FEDSIM on this innovative contract as we strengthen our nation’s warfighters across sea, air, land, and space.”

In addition, Heneghan was also a key player with a blanket purchase agreement back in Feb. 2021 as Encantado Technical Solutions, a joint venture of ECS and Edgewater Federal Solutions, received a potential $400 to $700 million BPA to provide information technology and telecommunications support for Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, GovConWire reported.

“We will leverage Encantado’s Centers of Excellence and innovation labs focused on IT operations, cloud, cybersecurity, software modernization, and artificial intelligence to maximize Sandia’s investments and achieve the labs’ long-term IT strategy,” said Heneghan.

Encantado said it will create jobs in Albuquerque and Livermore, California, and establish a nonprofit foundation to support the digital workforce through training opportunities and advance STEM education-related development initiatives.

Executive Mosaic is proud to recognize ECS Federal and John Heneghan for being named a 2022 Wash100 Award recipient. As a first time winner of the most coveted award in GovCon, Heneghan has demonstrated a level of success and recognition that can only be recognized by the Wash100 Award and the GovCon community.

Visit Wash100.com to vote for John Heneghan and who you believe deserves the recognition as the most significant leader to the GovCon community and federal landscape.
