Peraton Commits to Building Diverse Cybersecurity Workforce; Tom Afferton Quoted - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Peraton has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with Dakota State University to support the U.S. government’s national cyber strategy by helping build a diverse cybersecurity workforce.

As part of the collaboration, Peraton said Monday it participated in DSU’s annual CybHER event that aims to increase diversity by introducing female students interested in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields to cybersecurity.

“While the percentage of women in cyber fields has doubled over the past decade, we still have plenty of work ahead of us,” said Tom Afferton, president of the cyber mission sector at Peraton.

To support CybHER’s mission, the company is providing three scholarship grants to selected middle-school students, two of whom were present at the event.

“Through our strategic partnerships, Peraton is committed to ensuring the next generation of cyber professionals will be working in a more dynamic, inclusive environment,” Afferton said.

Peraton and DSU will jointly support the initiatives of the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Cyber Command and Army Cyber Command to improve national cybersecurity.
