NOAA Seeks Industry Feedback for Microwave Sounder Pilot Study Draft Statement of Work - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commercial Data Program is seeking industry feedback on a draft statement of work for an upcoming pilot study that aims to evaluate the viability of using commercial passive microwave sounder products for the agency’s terrestrial weather mission.

NOAA intends to release a final solicitation for the effort in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024 and will use the industry feedback to make revisions to the draft SOW before then, according to a source sought notice posted Friday on SAM.gov.

The agency uses measurements collected by MW systems for climate modeling, disaster preparedness and numerical weather prediction. Under the pilot, the contractor will provide MWS observational data and other derived products. NOAA will use this data as a basis for evaluating the systems that produced it.

The pilot will be carried out in three phases. The first phase will last three months, during which the contractor will deliver technical documentation, engineering support and a sample data set. The second phase will last six months, during which the contractor will deliver the measurement data that will be evaluated. The third phase will last three months and serve as the evaluation period.

Interested parties have until June 19 to provide feedback.
