AWS' Dave Levy Foresees Breakthrough in Government Adoption of Generative AI - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Amazon Web Services Vice President of Worldwide Public Sector Dave Levy said in a recent interview that although federal agencies are in the early stages of adopting generative artificial intelligence, a period of breakthroughs is coming that will see an acceleration in the technology’s use, FedScoop reported Friday.

The 2024 Wash100 awardee told the publication on the sidelines of the recent AWS Summit Washington, D.C., that even now organizations like the U.S. Army and the CIA, which work with sensitive data, have found ways to put generative AI to use and are working to deploy the technology not only for administrative functions but for their missions as well.

Levy foresees that success will beget success.

“I think when organizations start to see other organizations have real breakthroughs or real efficiency gains or you know, real opportunities, I think it’s going to get much more interesting,” the AWS executive said.

The adoption of the technology, however, will come with challenges, including the need to move one’s data to the cloud and the need to train one’s personnel in using cloud technologies and related tools.

Levy expects that a combination of in-house training having third-party support is “gonna be what gets agencies moving.”
