SpiderOak & Axiom Space Showcase Memory-Safe Satellite Communication Platform in Orbit - top government contractors - best government contracting event

SpiderOak and Axiom Space have partnered to demonstrate data security capabilities using the memory-safe programming language Rust in orbit to meet modern cybersecurity requirements.

A validation test on July 1 specifically showcased SpiderOak’s OrbitSecure secure satellite communication platform using Rust on the International Space Station, SpiderOak said Tuesday.

OrbitSecure is a zero-trust software service for extreme edge environments, securing information flow in disconnected, low-bandwidth and unsecured conditions.

The effort follows the OrbitSecure demo by SpiderOak and Axiom Space on the ISS in 2023.

Memory-safe programming languages like Rust, which is suited for spaceflight control systems, are highlighted in President Biden’s National Cybersecurity Strategy as essential for creating secure software systems by design.
