ChromebookVMware will cloud-based desktop services on Google’s personal computer device in order to help customers update their mobile infrastructure.

VMware’s desktop-as-a-service platform offering will be integrated into Google’s Chromebook devices for businesses to access Windows applications and data through the cloud, VMware said Wednesday.

Sanjay Poonen, executive vice president and general manager of end-user computing at VMware, said the company intends to help clients streamline information technology systems and run applications.

The joint offering is available through a cloud or hybrid platform as a subscription-based desktop service from VMware and other vCloud service providers.

VMware’s Web-based Blast HTML5 Chromebook application is intended to give users access to Windows applications, data and desktops.
