satellite airforceInmarsat has tapped Cobham SATCOM and Addvalue Technologies to manufacture terminals for an Inmarsat satellite communications service targeted toward maritime leisure and fishing enthusiasts.

The Fleet One service offering is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2014 and is built to provide data and voice connectivity among daytime boaters, fishermen and leisure mariners, Inmarsat said Tuesday.

“Addvalue and Cobham are long-standing, trusted partners of Inmarsat and today’s appointment represents an expansion of the partnership between our respective companies,” said Frank Coles, president of Inmarsat’s maritime business.

Inmarsat says Fleet One is part of the company’s L-band SATCOM portfolio.
