ThalesLogoThe Federal Aviation Administration has purchased five Thales-built navigational aids for the U.S. National Airspace System under a five-year contract between the agency and company.

“As the FAA transitions to NextGen, Thales will continue to help support and modernize the FAA’s inventory of navigational aids,” Tony Lo Brutto, vice president of Thales’ U.S. air traffic management unit, said Monday.

The ILS420 approach and landing navigational system is built to be compliant with FAA and International Civil Aviation Organization Category III operational requirements.

According to Thales, there are more than than 1,250 MK20A and older generation Thales ILS systems in use throughout the U.S.
