Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin Corp. has invested $80 million in its mission systems and training unit in Central Florida, creating up to 200 jobs, Orlando Business Journal reported Wednesday.

Megan Ribbens writes the new Orlando, Fla.-based employees will work on Lockheed’s training and logistics operations for the F-35, F-16 and F-15 aircraft programs.

About 7,000 employees already run the Bethesda, Md.-based company’s Orlando unit, which provides applications for the U.S. military’s surface, air and undersea programs, according to the report.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs said Lockheed Martin’s shift to Central Florida has been driven by the region’s MS&T sector, workforce and the $4 billion in military commands procurement contracts, reports Orlando Business Journal.
