Cloud Computing, ExecutiveBizChief information officers and senior information technology executives continue to transition organizational data to cloud environments amid a growing security threat landscape, says Colin Lacey, vice president of data center and cloud transformation solutions and services at Unisys.

“Security concerns are not stopping CIOs from making use of the cloud to reduce costs and increase their organizational agility,” Lacey said Monday.

A Unisys-IDG Research online survey conducted in 2003 says more than 70 percent of IT leaders consider security concerns as the largest issue complicating their cloud deployment work.

Forty-five percent and 42 percent cited challenges in information governance and standards, respectively.

More than half of survey respondents said their organization has at least one cloud-based application and 53 percent of executives indicate increased spending on cloud-based applications over the next 12 months.

“These results show that senior IT leaders are taking a pragmatic, measured approach to cloud adoption, making use of secure private cloud and as-a-service delivery models to ensure secure, consistent delivery of IT services to their employees and customers,” Lacey said.
