Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin has completed an off-road test for its Havoc 8×8 Armored Modular Vehicle at the Butte Mountain Trail of the Nevada Automotive Test Center to validate its design and functions.

“Over the course of 10 days of testing, we performed more than 40 test runs up and down the mountain while demonstrating the vehicle’s ride quality and crew comfort,” Scott Greene, vice president of ground vehicles at Lockheed’s missiles and fire control segment, said Tuesday.

The design, which the company developed with Patria, will be submitted for the anticipated 2015 request for proposals on the U.S. Marine Corps‘ Amphibious Combat Vehicle program.

Lockheed said the Marines want to perform their own automotive, amphibious and protection testing on a total of 16 Havoc designs after the program kicks off.

The Havoc expeditionary ground combat vehicle is based on the Patria 8×8 Armored Modular Vehicle and is designed to carry weapons, sensors and communications gear, the company said.
