Teledyne Technologies will assemble the electrical and fiber optic interconnect of the U.S. Navy‘s submarines under a subcontract from General Dynamics Electric Boat.

Teledyne’s oil and gas group will provide materials and hardware engineering support services for 10 ships under the Navy’s Virginia-class submarine program, Teledyne said Thursday.

“Working together, our oil & gas companies have demonstrated the ability to develop and manufacture interconnect solutions for the most demanding marine environments,” said Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and CEO of Teledyne.

“We are honored to continue providing Electric Boat with these high quality, SUBSAFE verified products for our nation’s submarine fleet,” Mehrabian added.

Teledyne will begin work under the multiyear contract in 2015.
