Exelis-logo, ExecutiveMosaicExelis will supply surface surveillance products and services to Detroit’s main airport for situational awareness and operations management support.

The company will deploy its Symphony suite of applications for the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to handle operations, maintain safety and facilitate collaboration, Exelis said Tuesday.

“The deployment of the Symphony suite will provide DTW with an airfield operations management system on a single Web-based platform,” said Ted Carniol, general manager of commercial aviation services for Exelis.

Detroit Metro Airport will use Exelis’ Symphony OpsVue to access gate-to-gate flight status data, vehicle movement area transponders to monitor ground vehicles and Symphony MobileVue to display aircraft and ground vehicle tracking data on mobile devices.

Exelis obtained certification from the Federal Aviation Administration for its transponders in November 2012.
