Dell has opened a Silicon Valley, California-based laboratory to further its research into the Internet of Things, Austin Business Journal reported Monday.
Michael Theis writes the lab at Dell’s Santa Clara offices will serve as a development site for products such as smart pill dispenser and a chip to track temperature, humidity and air pressure changes.
Joyce Mullen, a vice president and general manager at Dell, said during the opening ceremony the company intends for the lab to help establish standards around IoT and contribute to the industry’s growth, according to the report.
Intel contributed funding for the facility, Theis reports.
