Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin has received a $43.4 million contract to provide multisensor target sight systems for installation on the U.S. Marine Corps‘ helicopter gunships, Intelligent Aerospace reported Monday.

John Keller writes that Lockheed will deliver AN/AAQ-30 targeting products for the Cobra attack helicopter modernization.

The AN/AAQ-30 system is comprised of a forward-looking infrared sensor technology, color TV, laser designator and rangefinder and an on-gimbal inertial measurement device.

The platform aims to identify and track targets and to provide a passive targeting mechanism for integrated weapons.

Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business will produce the systems in Orlando and Ocala, Florida, and is scheduled to finish the work in November 2017.
