battelle - ExecutiveMosaicBattelle has developed new authentication technology that validates integrated circuits used in systems across the aerospace and defense, infrastructure, medical and other sectors and identifies cloned or counterfeit electronic components.

The company said March 16 that Barricade consists of signal acquisition hardware and software that use the chip’s electrical identity signatures and an algorithm that recognizes specific classes of circuits.

“As counterfeiting continues to be a growing issue for both suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring that all components are effectively and accurately verified for authenticity has become an increasingly time-consuming and expensive task,” said Larry House, cyber technical director at Battelle.

According to Battelle, the technology works to deliver a quick, nondestructive and cost-effective chip authentication process.

The nonprofit company exhibited Barricade at the 40th Annual GOMAC Tech Conference held earlier this week in St. Louis, Missouri.
