ITphotoA UnisysMaps SpA consortium has been awarded a multimillion contract to support an information technology modernization program of the European Food Safety Authority.

The team will deliver a system intended to help the agency disseminate scientific advice on food and feed safety issues to consumer groups and nongovernmental organizations, Unisys said Monday.

“We look forward to working with EFSA to optimize its infrastructure and support its mission to ensure food safety in Europe,” said Bart Steukers, Unisys general manager for the Continental Europe region.

Unisys’ Italian and Belgian subsidiaries will also provide end-user management and technical support for approximately 470 employees at the agency.

The contract contains three base years and three option years.
