Comtech Telecommunications Corp.logo A Comtech Telecommunications subsidiary has been tasked to deliver additional battle command and control support systems to the U.S. Army under a $19.8 million initial funding.

The Army exercised one option year of a three-year contract awarded to Comtech Mobile Datacom in April 2014 to obtain license for its Blue-Force Tracking intellectual property, Comtech said Monday.

Comtech will also perform engineering services, satellite network operations and program management support for the Army’s Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below – BFT-1 program.

The company began to perform the task on April 1 and work would continue through March 31, 2016.

The Army has raised the deal’s combined value to $68.5 million with the BFT-1 sustainment contract and IP license agreement, with both contracts containing one 12-month remaining option period.
