The U.S. Army has adopted an IBM Hybrid Cloud to add analytics and mobile functions to the branch’s Logistics Support Activity, a service that provides data support to decision makers in Army missions around the world.

LOGSA has worked to record 40 million data transactions per day since the transition to the IBM cloud platform in 2014, the company said Wednesday.

According to the company, the technology is designed to create opportunities for insights that target enterprise scale and performance, security and reliability gains for the user.

“The Army not only recognized a trend in IT that could transform how they deliver services to their logistics personnel around the world, they also implemented a cloud environment quickly and are already experiencing significant benefits,” said Anne Altman, general manager for IBM’s U.S. federal business.

Insights derived from LOGSA in particular directly impact the warfighter in material distribution and equipment readiness, it added.
