Cisco-LogoEbizCisco executive Steve Steinhiber has said business opportunities in the Internet of Things are creating new partner types and changing current channel partners for the company, IT World Canada News reported Friday.

Steinhiber, Cisco’s vice president of industry solutions group and ecosystems, expects an increase in the company’s number of multipartner deals as a result of the changes in the partner ecosystem, Paolo Del Nibletto reports.

These transactions could involve developers, non-information technology companies with a vertical focus, independent software vendors, system partners and individuals, according to Steinhiber.IoT news ad

“This will close the current IoT skills gap with more education and enablement with industrial networking skills,” he said.

“Approximately 300,000 control engineers still need to re-skill themselves to manage IoT and converged IT,” Steinhiber added.
