electronic health record EHRThe Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has awarded $300,000 in total grants to six teams of developers and healthcare organizations that aim to live-test new health IT applications.

The medical app developers were chosen and matched with healthcare providers through ONC’s Market R&D Challenge, according to a blog post published Tuesday on the Department of Health and Human Services website.

Each host-innovator pair will receive $50,000 to demonstrate the potential of apps  in managing care coordination, patient data or medication use.

The winning teams are:

  • ClinicalBox and Lowell General Hospital
  • CreateIT Healthcare Solutions and MHP Salud
  • Gecko Health Innovations and Boston Children’s Hospital
  • Optima Integrated Health and University of California, San Francisco, Cardiology Division
  • PhysIQ and Henry Ford Health System
  • Vital Care Telehealth Services and Dominican Sisters Family Health Service
