Gene Colabatistto, CAE group president of defense and security, has discussed his belief in how synthetic training can help manage costs and requirements for fleet procurement and maintenance, Aviation Week reported Wednesday.

Colabatistto told the publication training represents 24 percent of enterprise assets, Angus Batey reports.

“In order to fully qualify an operator of any type – a pilot, a crewman, somebody on the ground doing air control – it seems intuitive that learning and practicing in a simulator is a great way to go,” Colabatistto told Aviation Week.

He added that industry plays a role in informing policies and standards, Aviation Week reports.

“In most contracts we have, a key component is the courseware and the course curriculum,” Colabatistto told Aviation Week.
